It has been an amazing year of learning, laughing, growing and giving here at The Montessori Family School! :)
How incredible it is to witness how children who are given a nurturing, safe and happy environment blossom into curious, capable and inspired learners!
Our Montessori program focuses on whole-child development; social, emotional, academic and physical well-being are equally supported.
Whether we are in the garden, cooking, learning our sounds or doing math, each child is met at their level and gently nurtured to try new things. This results in happy, confident children who feel empowered in their learning. They seek out new challenges because they are excited and motivated to learn.

| We visited Moondance Organic Farm for our fall field trip and met Farmer Kim & all her friends! |

| Back at school we had some harvesting to do before the heavy frosts came. We pulled the last of our "Rainbow" carrots.... |

| and had fun counting them for some great numbers practice. |

| We picked the last of the dried pods on our Scarlet Runner Beans for next year's garden. The purple & black gems were beautiful! |

| We dug our potatoes..... |

| and made some delicious Harvest Soup on a cold day! |

| We celebrated Diwali and explored the culture of India. |
 |
| Happy Halloween/Harvest Time! |

| We loved treating our loved ones to tea & snack on Grandparents' Day! |

| We become absorbed in our work and have amazing concentration. |

| We take care of other living things. |

| Christmas time was busy with baking gifts and making applesauce ~ YUM! |

| We welcomed in 2018 with a Tobogganing Party! |

| and of course the fun continued in the classroom as well..... |

| For Valentine's Day we made a special fruit kanten with coconut whipped cream. Such a treat!! |

| and had a dance party to celebrate the LOVE!! :) |

| Lunar New Year gave us a chance to explore the Chinese culture.... |
 |
| and enjoy looooooong noodles for a long life! |
 |
| The end of February is Maria Montessori Week. We always learn about her life and celebrate her cultural heritage with a special lunch. This year we made our own pizzas! |

| We visited Breedon's Maple Syrup for our spring field trip. |

| Mr. Breedon showed us how to tap a sugar maple tree! |

| Then it was Easter time.... |

| We had local author, Carolyn J. Morris come for a spring visit.... |

| We pitched in to keep our neighbourhood clean. |

| In May we celebrated Cinco De Mayo and learned all about Mexico....Hola!! |

| As the spring warmed it was time to put out our bird bath for our friends. |

| We started our seeds indoors to learn about germination.... |

| We had local artist and professor, Ms. Amy, in to teach us about Australian Aborigine art.... |

| and made "dot paintings" on rocks. |

| On Summer Solstice we welcomed the season with planting flowers.... |

| and making our own, cool popsicles! |
